The wood panelled Wine Bar is the award winning centre of the business. Its character is largely unchanged from the original 9 table experience back in the 70’s. It now boasts 20 tables but still works on the foundations of great food using the best local ingredients and wine expertly picked to offer the best range and value.
Gales owes its busy informal nature to the fact that only a small section of the bar is bookable with service that is friendly and knowledgeable. Whenever you come though the door you know you will receive the same amiable welcome.
HOW THE MENU WORKS
There are two ways of dining with us.
Each menu item has two prices, a starter and main. allowing you to:
1# Starter then main. Most of our dishes can be served either as a starter or as a main allowing you to have more choice and create you own menu
2# Many starters. If you feel like a lighter dining experience or one with more tastes, you can chose to have two or more of the starter size dishes.

All our beef is hung for 28 days in our cold room, this gives it a delicous flavour and beautiful tender texture, insuring that only the best is served to you. We also buy our lambs locally and hang them for a week, allowing the kitchen to use the prime cuts for our ever changing menu.
We make our own artisan bread in our on site professional bakery.
All our icecream is made here using free range eggs and fresh ingredients, employing more than one technique to churn you an incredibly smooth icecream
All the produce used in our kitchen is locally sourced and seasonal wherever possible.
We are utilising modern cooking techniques, such as sous vide, spherification and pressure cooking to give you a heightened dining experience
Our extensive wine list boasts labels from around the world. Many of the wines are shipped by ourselves and offer quality and value for money. Try Burgundies, Bordeaux and wines from other French regions, Spanish Riojas and wines from the Lebanon. Sample New World wines from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and North and South America.
As well as wines behind the bar, we carry a wide selection of other drinks including interesting and different bottled lagers and ales, soft drinks and specialist spirits. We have a huge fan following for our Westons ciders.

Dinner: 6.00 - 9.30 Monday to Saturday
